Dick Strong’s ex-KGB contact informs him about Doctor Spider (the brother of Count Alberto of the Iron Army) launching Gigantor to the moon in an old Russian missile. Meeting with friends Kristen and Jack Ruby, our heroes head to the spaceport to join Inspector Blooper’s new space team. Meanwhile, Spider takes down the Iron Army’s robots with his moon-based cannon, but they have their own Gigantor duplicate, the Black Giant, and they’re on their way to the moon as well.

What they got right: Okay, the explanation of how Spider got Gigantor to the moon and sneaking him away from his storage area makes sense. Dr. Brilliant just needs better security. And yes, I like the idea that they’re going to have a giant robot battle on the moon.

What they got wrong: I can find no information about Jack or Kristen Ruby. (I can find real world people with those names but there’s no connection.) I’m going to assume they’re new and yet here they’re depicted as already being friends with Jimmy. Why not give us a proper introduction. Even if they are on the show, introduce them to new readers. If not, Emma East (yes, we have a last name for her), who by the way will be adding nothing further to the story along with Dick Strong, had a decent introduction as did everyone except maybe Inspector Blooper to new audiences who aren’t familiar with the show.

Recommendation: I’m still enjoying this comic, but I’m a giant robot fan. We’re getting giant robot battle on the moon. Please let this be good. We’ll find out later today.
