Darkhawk #8

I think this qualifies as “bad touch”.

Darkhawk #8

Marvel (October, 1991)

“Lodestone!”
WRITER: Danny Fingeroth
PENCILER: Mike Manley
INKERS: Ricardo Villagran & Mike Manley
COLORIST: Joe Rosas
LETTERER: Joe Rosen
EDITOR: Nel Yomtov

Lodestone attacks Chris, wanting to know where Darkhawk went. Chris sends her off in the wrong direction, giving him time to retrieve his amulet from Headset (who is picked up by an ambulance) and as Darkhawk confronts the supervillianess. However, Lodestone succeeds in capturing him (after Bazin uses his control device to stop her from killing him) and brings him to Bazin’s lab for study. Darkhawk gets a break when Allegra, Philippe’s daughter, disrupts things and even grabs Lodestone’s control device to allow Darkhawk to escape. Meanwhile, Grace puts pressure on Lenox to find Mike, but when she leaves he makes a cryptic phone call.

What they got right: It’s good to see Darkhawk getting his own supervillain now. Lodestone is a good foil for Darkhawk. The mystery with Mike’s disappearance and Lenox is interesting.

What they got wrong: Lodestone’s costume is rather weak except for the headpiece, which is rather stupid. I guess that’s how Philippe is controlling Lodestone but it just looks silly.

Recommendation: I’m still getting into this story. Pick this issue up.
