Transformers Devastation Bee & Op vs Megatron

While working on the Transformers comic review yesterday (so they would post on time today), I kept seeing potential links to something called Transformers Devastation. Having been out of the loop all year I thought it was another fanfilm, like this stop-motion thing that I didn’t like the ending of. So I decided to look into it, and what I found was…

Yeah, that had my attention. So I hit TFW2005 and checked out the game. There was a video with gameplay and interviews with the creators by IGN and what I saw made me so very happy.

Transformers Devatastion is the next Transformers game from Activision. Instead of High Moon Studios, who produced most of their Transformers games to much fan praise (except for the movie tie-in games, which were below their standards set in War For Cybertron and Fall Of Cybertron) they went with PlatinumGames, who produced games like the Bayonetta series. That still kind of worries me considering the content there, and what’s going on in the more violent IDW comics. It also means they know their action games and like the High Moon games this is very much an action game, only with brighter colors and Bumblebee can beat up Megatron! You read that right, folks! Da Bee can take out Megatron! Just check out the footage, but you may have to turn your speakers up.

Did I lie? Seeing my boy Bumblebee knocking Megatron all over the place was a happy, happy sight. According to the press release and the video, All five playable Autobots–Bumblebee, Optimus, Wheeljack, Sideswipe, and Grimlock–will be voiced by their old G1 voice actors, as will classic Decepticon characters. That’s really going the extra mile to bring the feel of the show…you know, except for the high-flying action that’s a bit over the top for a Sunbow program.

I like the art style. It’s like if the current Robots In Disguise animation studio drew the original Transformers, although Bumblebee’s vehicle mode has to be the Classics version due to Volkswagen having issues with war toys. I think it balanced out well enough, though. The game is coming out on both X-Box 360 AND XBox One (why 360? I don’t know), Playstation 4 and 3 (again with the older consoles and yet nothing for Nintendo as of this writing) and the PC. Which means I really want to have money coming in…now, actually, as I’m still kind of screwed, but also on October 6th, 2015, when this game drops. Keep up to date on the game website.
