I said this would be my next Internet Spotlight. Every now and then I find new things thanks to YouTube’s “related videos” feature. One of those is Comicstorian, dramatic re-tellings of major story arcs and origins, usually from DC and Marvel, but occasionally they branch out. It’s actually connected (I don’t know if it’s an official spinoff) of Eligible Monster, which does the same for video games. I haven’t gone over it so I can’t review it.
They actually produce a few different installments of their show and we’ll look at some examples now.
The main show, Comicstorian, is a dramatic re-telling of major events, even if they aren’t canon thanks to the New 52. From the DC side, their latest is Batman: Hush. Part one is online as of this article with part two on the way.
On the Marvel side, the first part of Punisher: Black And White.
They do go beyond the big two, though. Here’s one with the IDW version of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Origins looks at the history of various superheroes. Since I’ve been doing so much with Firestorm let’s go with that origin.
Finally (I say finally because there are more shows but only so many videos I want to put in one article) is Know Your Universe. A bit beyond Origins, this one covers the full history of a character. Let’s go with the history of the Marvel Universe Symbiotes.
If you like what I’ve shown and want to see what other series and ideas they have, check out their YouTube page. I’m sure this will be another source of Filler Videos in the future. While he and I don’t always agree on which stories we like it is a good way to keep up or catch up with your favorite universe.
