You’re doing the head-mounting thing wrong.

Isaac Asimov’s I-Bots #3

WRITER: Steven Grant
PENCILER: George Pérez
BREAKDOWNS: Jose Delbo

LETTERING: Richard Starkings & Comicraft
EDITOR: James Chambers

After stopping a bank robbery and rescuing the hostages from the bank vault, the I-Bots decide to take their leave of Silver, who is attracted to Radiant and secretly working for Annabelle, and have a press conference. However, they’re attacked by Fen Burleigh, the “Exterminating Angel”. He is able to block Zac and disrupt the I-Bots’ systems. Only Itazura avoids his Cybervore robots until Yagara arrives and rescues them. He also has a beef with Worldtech and recruits the I-Bots in his fight. Radiant, however, is already tired of the fighting and decides to go off on her own.

What they got right: For all the concerns the I-Bots have about Itazura breaking the protocols (alias Asimov’s “three laws of robotics”) we see him actually save Fen’s life when Yagara tries to kill him. This is an interesting foe for the I-Bots, with the right kind of villain personality.

What they got wrong: Did Silver have to be working with Annabelle? Sure, his opponent obviously won’t but conspiracies need to keep as secret as possible, so there should be people NOT in on it. And the part about Annabelle giving Silver his own Radiant was just creepy.

Recommendation: This is still an interesting story. Check it out if you can.
