As the search for Optimus continues and the Cybertron Optimus is on continues to fall apart, Jetfire leads a team of Autobots into the decimated Decepticon base on Cybertron. They are attacked by Bludgeon but manage to at least damage him and force him out of his Pretender shell. On Earth, Megatron is getting his tailpipe handed to him by Galvatron until the Air Defense Team reluctantly reform into the Star Saber, giving Megatron the edge, but at what cost? Unaware of these events, Galvatron’s remaining troops see Thrust coming back to the base and decide to find out from him where Megatron is…the hard way!

What they got right: A rare example of Furman’s need to tell multiple stories working since they’re all connected to the same event. The action is well-drawn and the danger level clear to the reader, even if we’re only guessing the dark force involved due to history and the fact that a Unicron toy was being produced for this line.

What they got wrong: We never do see the good guys wield the Star Saber in this series, do we? Yeah, that’s all I’ve got, which is rare for a Furman story.

Recommendation: This is still a good series to check out. Sad that the G1 titles got the most love from fans around this time (I just learned that) because this should have at least been equal with it.
