Isaac Asimov's I-Bots vol 2 #8

“Gremlin, that is rude and uncomfortable.”

Isaac Asimov’s I-Bots Vol.2 #8

Big Entertainment (January, 1997)

“Rebirth” part 2: “A Bot In A Hard Place”
WRITERS: Cliff Biggers & Brett Brooks
ARTIST: Pat Broderick
COLORING: Prismacolor
LETTERER: Michael A. Palmer
EDITOR: James Chambers
CONCEPT: Isaac Asimov
DEVELOPER: Howard Chaykin

Bot-I was prepared for the I-Bots and manages to escape them, with Kevin forced to cover the embarrassment he gives the new I-Bots. However, Annabelle still wants the little robot and when he breaks into Worldtech seeking information on a room not in the files he hacked, she gets to meet him. While Bot-I manages to escape it’s with even more luck and damage thanks to a device Gremlin has. Not able to go home, Bot-I heads to a cabin not really knowing why, and ends up at the doorstep of the REAL, not-dead I-Bots!

What they got right: I really like Bot-I and wish I could see more of him. Sadly, this series will be ending soon, next issue if I remember correctly, because the company went out of business. I like not only that the new I-Bots don’t have the teamwork of the original, but that since it should be part of their programming like it was the originals (who still bickered now and then, usually the boys) that it’s a plot point. And of course I’m happy to see the originals return.

What they got wrong: Are they going to explain why Annabelle is still here? Wasn’t she arrested or did enough time past that she did her time and now is working behind the scenes?

Recommendation: I do enjoy this series and I’m sorry it couldn’t have gone on longer. Pick these books up.
