Long time Friday Night Fight readers know that I tend to avoid, and rarely vote for, three different forms of fights regardless of gore level (preferred not-gory): hero versus hero, fights ending in death, and fights where the hero loses. However, going over this week’s comic reviews there is one fight that stood out, even if the hero loses in the end. At least he lives to come back later and save the day and stuff. I’ll settle for that.

“Lights Out” round 9
The Battlefield: Spider-Man Adventures #15 (Marvel; February, 1996) “Jungle Stalkings”
The Promoters: Nel Yomtov (writer), Alex Saviuk (penciler), Sam DeLaRosa, Scott Elmer, & Rob Stull (inkers), Kevin Tinsley (colorist), and Steve Dutro (letterer)
Spider-Man is in Rio to see Curt Connors but he’s gone all Lizard on him again, which means he has to fight one of his friends again.
It’s spider strength versus lizard strength.
But surely Spider-Man will come out on top, right?
Oh right, it’s in the middle of the comic. Don’t worry, he gets up later and creates an antidote to the Lizard. There’s still a happy ending.
Head over to Spacebooger.com by Sunday night and vote for your favorite Friday Night Fight! (Forum membership is NOT required to vote, only to comment.) Winners of these 12 rounds head to the Prize Fight, so feel free to join in. We could use the competition. Rules are posted on Tuesdays.
