BW’s Morning Article Link: Kenny Baker Passes Away

Word came over the weekend that Kenny Baker, known mostly as R2-D2 in the Star Wars franchise, passed away at 81 years old. He also played in movies such as Flash Gordon, Time Bandits, Amadeus, and The Elephant Man. He will be missed by family, friends, and many sci-fi fans. Sure, nowadays any good electrician can scratch-build an R2 unit or his kin or design a completely original remote-controlled Astromech, and the current hotness, BB-8, is a remote controlled robot, but they’re poor replacements for what Baker brought to the character back in 1977 onward.
