I’m not shilling anything (but if Ford wants to give me money, I won’t stop them), but I thought this was pretty cool. Ford’s latest ad campaign is easily targeting 90s kids and some of us geeks who were paying attention. Their “Overdubs” takes clips from popular nineties stuff, from Metal Gear Solid, Dragon Ball Z, Captain Planet, and your guess is as good as mine because it’s some live-action show I never watched. I’ve actually seen a couple of these on television, and thought some of you may want to check it out. Hopefully this one plays overseas for those of you in other countries not getting these ads.

There is another that as of this writing is currently unlisted, featuring Sailor Moon, which Comics Alliance somehow tracked down, if you want to take a look at it. And I’m pretty sure they actually got some of the game and show voice actors for these ads. Except for the Planeteers. Was Gi even voiced by a girl here?

Using nostalgia to sell products such as cars, etc. is an effective advertising technique. Pretty creative! Bound to catch one’s attention.
