Look, I don’t have a problem with a new take on an old idea, including ones I grew up with. However, how that’s handled can fail to attract me and ultimately disappoint me. In this v-log I try to explain why a re-imagining isn’t an update, and it has nothing to do with quality of the product.
I’m going to do some kind of video at the end of the month, but now that I have my old BW Panelling intro I’ll probably try to get those done as soon as I can. In the meantime I need to get to work on that Clutter Report I mentioned.

Good job explaining the differences between an update and a reimagining. This definitely clarifies everything. The new MASK comic by IDW is a reimagining, not an update! The MOTU comics from MV Creations in the early 2000s were updates. Or to clarify further, the IDW MASK comic covers are updates, but what’s inside…the story and artwork is a reimagining.
Also, there is a reason why IDW and Hasbro are pushing this shared Hasbro Universe of MASK, Transformers, GI Joe, ROM, and Micronauts…..it’s all about the Benjamins! ($$$$$$$$$$). Hasbro stands to make TONS of money off of the movies and merchandise from a shared Hasbro Universe. Imagine all the movies, toys, T-shirts, video games, comics, novels, cartoons, etc. In other words, this quest for a super economically enriching Hasbro Universe is probably influencing how the IDW MASK comics are created.
Will you be filming at Free Comics Day this May? Hopefully, you’re able to experience at least one day at ConnectiCon this July, but if you aren’t able to, at least you will hopefully get to be at Free Comics Day at your local comic shop and do some filming there as well.

We’ll see what happens. I need to get my “driving legs” again since I’ve spent so little time on the road by myself between unemployment and last year’s medical crisis.

I hope you feel better for Saturday, May 6th when Free Comics Day goes down. Praying that you will feel well enough to drive the 12 miles to your favorite comic shop. You’re slowly regaining your strength, so hopefully it will happen for you. Your video from the last Free Comics Day you attended was pretty cool. I especially liked your interview with the guy who creates custom made cosplaying equipment and costumes such as the Dalek that he had with him.
With the new MASK comic, at least you have no regrets. You’ll never have to wonder “what if”. You gave it a try, and now you know it isn’t all that.
