The Green Goblin take on Casual Friday.
One of the things I love to record at conventions are the costumes. They’re a testament to a love of a character, whether they bought the costume, the patterns, or created their own. It’s not just a costume, it’s cosplay. You aren’t going out to get candy or dance as a character you like; this is a love for that character and holds a deeper meaning to the cosplayer.
On Facebook someone posted a series of screencaps from a TED talk by former Mythbuster Adam Savage, with a link to the video of Savage discussing his ties to cosplay and what he learned about it from walking around San Diego Comic Con as No Face, a character from the amazing anime film Spirited Away as well as his own love of wearing costumes, which he brought to the show.
Savage is currently touring as part of a live show called Brain Candy. For more TED Talks, check out their website.
