Our mystery man’s mystery organization is finally named, The Machination. Knowing the Decepticons are speeding things up they’re planning to do the same. Meanwhile, Verity, Hunter, and Jimmy explore the abandoned base. Verity finds a “tree” of pods, one of which contains someone’s skeletal remains. The Decepticons arrive to destroy their old base, putting Ratchet and Bumblebee in danger, while Verity makes one more discovery. His body looks a bit different but we fans would instantly recognize him…as Megatron!
What they got right: We get a little more glimpse into Verity’s backstory, about her not wanting to stay anywhere and having a chip on her shoulder playing the “tough girl”. The action is good and the third column (because Furman can’t stop himself from having multiple stories going on at the same time) is at least being teased in a way that makes the reader want to know more.
What they got wrong: Hunter and Jimmy don’t find anything. Verity finds all the cool stuff. The focus is squarely on her but the more we learn about her the more I realize how little we know about Hunter and that we know almost nothing about Jimmy. And if memory serves Jimmy won’t be in the picture much longer so I’m wondering what his point is being here.
Recommendation: It’s still an interesting story thus far, so I still recommend giving it a look.
