Not by himself mind you. Even the King Of Comics wasn’t that badass. However, a project he once worked on for a failed sci-fi movie and tie-in theme park (he did more than just comics) was used as part of a plan to rescue hostages at the US embassy by Iranian terrorists. Previews has a look at those designs, and talks about how they were used as part of the rescue plan. As a bonus link Wikipedia has an article about the “Canadian Caper” that they were used for. Ben Affleck made a movie called Argo (the name of the fictional movie Canadian officials and the CIA used for the plan) based on the events after it was declassified but apparently he messed up a few facts.
