While M. Night Hardtospelllastname is know for abusing twist endings in his films, the twist can be used to good storytelling effect. And that can also be true when fans who have “seen it all” can figure out what’s going to happen. Of course if you make the twist satisfying then the fans feel smarter and they may still stick around.
