Gremlins was a really good movie. Gremlins 2: The New Batch is an okay movie but fun to watch. However there really haven been many spinoffs or sequels to this franchise. WarnerMedia is planning to do something about it with a new prequel cartoon, about how Gizmo first met the shopkeeper. I’ve seen complaints that it isn’t another movie or that the creator isn’t involved but I like the concept. It could work. It could also be the Karate Kid cartoon, but where it failed in adaptation (which is still closer than all these re-imaginings you get nowadays) it made up for in being a fair watch. Unfortunately it will be for their streaming service, which will probably be subscription only and thus I’ll never see it.

This Gremlins cartoon actually sounds it has an interesting story line. It’s too bad it’s only available on a subscription based streaming service. But honestly, I’m surprised that there wasn’t a Gremlins comic book series in the 1980s. That would have actually been quite popular. I do remember the Gremlins cereal though along with that catchy advertisement theme song that is ingrained in my brain!

Earlier this week, I did see that a 3rd Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure movie will be coming out in the theaters in 2020. I do remember that comic series from the early 1990s. The 3rd movie will feature Bill and Ted as middle aged adults.
