Captain America: The First Avenger #1: First Vengeance
(that’s how comiXology lists it)
Marvel Comics (posted to comiXology, February, 2011)
WRITER: Fred Van Lente
ARTIST: Luke Ross
IT DOESN’T SAY: Richard Isanove
There are no credits in the comic itself, just what shows up in the store listing. I think this was a digital-first comic, released in time with Captain America’s debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
As Captain America drops in on another Hydra stronghold he thinks back to how his mother knew he wanted to be a soldier and his first meeting with Bucky Barnes. That’s pretty much it. Someone there is waiting for him. It’s only 13 pages.
For a short comic it isn’t that bad. The art is good and as a flashback for the MCU version of Steve Rogers it works. I really don’t have much else to say. The full miniseries is eight issues at 99¢ a comic. I don’t know if they published a physical version or not. If you liked the movie try an issue or two out and see if you like it.
