YouTube has tried to go beyond the self-creator video hosting site for a while, but now one of their projects is done. Variety is reporting that YouTube Originals, original shows funded for YouTube, is shutting down, with a few of their shows already picked up by larger networks. It’s still doing the hosting of Hollywood projects on demand ad supported and purchase, as well as YouTube TV but this is one project that didn’t go well for them I guess.
