Charmy starts reliving the time he ran from becoming prince, hiding from his family on the Floating Island and meeting Mighty. Meanwhile, Mighty and Vector wake up from their overdose no worse for wear (and both freaking out a poor nurse in the process). While this goes on, Remington and Julie-Su begin searching for whatever in Happyland caused the Lemon Sundrop Dandelion poisoning, but Rendfeld (still being forced to co-operate with Downtown Ebony Hare) sends them away. With Harry’s help (so he can get a few parking tickets canceled), the duo find Ebony’s operation, and she goes in undercover as a potential buyer. Ebony decides to treat his potential “customer” to a fall from the roof.
What they got right: While it most likely doesn’t match Charmy’s actual origin story, the presentation is handled well. Remington and Julie-Su make a more interesting team than she does with Knuckles and the Chaotix, which makes sense given Penders seems to care more about them and the lore he’s creating than the Sega characters that are being licensed to give him an opening to tell his story. Remember, a lot of this continuity goes away after his legal temper tantrum.
What they got wrong: As if proving my point, the Chaotix really don’t factor into this story and the segment with Knuckles back on the ground is just there because his name is in the comic. I know the Echidnas have been cut off from the rest of the Island for a very long time, but why does the nurse assume Vector wants to eat her except for this joke?
What I think overall: This is a story I’m actually interested in despite knowing what’s going to happen to it and why. I may actually keep this story when the purging is done. (A purge you can help with, by the way.)
