Holy crap, there’s no Beetle Girl in this issue! Maybe she finally went back to hero school?

These are both short stories so these will be short reviews. Crom is hired by an arab to retrieve a jar whose contents will give everlasting life, but the previous owner of the jar is now a walking corpse with little to say. Maybe it has something to do with those contents. This one was too short to really interest me, and it’s already not a genre I’m into. That’s the best review I can give, I’m sorry to say.
Okay, someone is going to have to give me the backstory for Spacehawk here. I could look it up, but I shouldn’t have to, especially with a Free Comic Book Day sampler. Spacehawk and his friend Ty are at a baseball game, when some Dr. Doom wannabe called Doctor Gore shows up to challenge him. Spacehawk does battle with him until Ty and two robots knock him out and he falls into the water. Spacehawk and Ty both seem to have the same flying gear so this feels more like Buck Rogers than a superhero story. That would be find but I really don’t know what the backstory is and I can’t really get into this one either.
Overall, it seems the lack of Beetle Girl isn’t the help I thought it would be. Crom and Spacehawk could be interesting, but with only eight pages of storytelling there isn’t time to tell you what’s happening if you don’t already follow the Lucky Comics lines. For a Free Comic Book Day sampling this really doesn’t work.
