Working food trucks now, Wind Man, Cold Man, and Skull Man swap stories of the times they fought Mega Man. Wind Man interrupts a family’s meal and ends up wearing it courtesy of Mega Man. Cold Man was going to freeze the zoo for the penguins without thinking about the other animals, but Mega Man used how easily the walking icebox gets distracted. Skull Man attacked Mega Man at Roll’s birthday party but while Rock never gave up it’s his sister that takes Skull Man down. Then their story is interrupted by Mega Man crashing near them in battle with another bot. Those stories were in the past. Today they know the Blue Bomber fought to protect others…and now it’s their turn to protect him.
What they got right: Tales of villains sitting around talking about how they came close to beating the hero and why they didn’t can be interesting. There’s an episode of Batman: The Animated Series with a similar title and it’s a fan favorite. Here we get to see Mega Man fighting to protect an innocent family, animals, and even his sister, never giving up at any time. Mega Man gave Roll time to free herself and she helped him, and the trio in present day follow that lead because they aren’t bad anymore.
What they got wrong: Are these supposed to be how Wily turned them evil? We don’t know why Wind Man is attacking Mega Man, Cold Man thinks he’s helping the penguins while their enclosure is renovated, and Skull Man is the only one that really comes off as evil. Is there a different backstory for Mega Man’s battles in the UDON continuity?
What I think overall: Continuity is up for debate but the stories themselves are quite good. It’s up to UDON’s high results.
