Before I start, I need to check something…

Yep, I’m still blocked. Not that it matters since he’s one of those creators who ran off to Bluesky the moment free speech included his political opposites. I don’t even know why he blocked me, unless it has something to do with someone I follow. I know he blocks everybody who follow Douglas Ernst. It’s okay, I returned the favor because of his reputation of payback. So unless he follows the site directly…

I guess older Jon needed a GPS to his home dimension.

…how did he steal one of my only somewhat joking ideas? Okay, I may not be the only one suggesting this compromise because that’s the only thing that makes sense. Option 3 is that we both thought alike and I’m not sure either of us like that option. I’m going with option 2. It is true, however. Young Jon Kent is back and older Jon is still here. Don’t believe me? Then you aren’t following current comics, either. I found out thanks to the following Shorts video (hence the aspect ratio for phones when her regular videos are the normal rotation) by Sasha Woods of Casually Comics. In Superman Unlimited #11, Young Jon is back without deaging old Jon. I have to talk about this.

You know what’s even scarier that I don’t remember if I ever posted it here or not? Tomorrow Man, which in my gameplan would have tied to Tomorrow Woman as inspiration, was something I considered aged-up Jon could go by and be his own man apart from Superman. Not a fan of the mask or the pouches (I am NOT a 90s man generally) and he shouldn’t ditch the S shield just because he’s not using the Super name anymore. He’s still Superman’s son, and it’s nice (I…looked up the comic) that he’s still proud of the legacy. Also, it turns out this is the outfit that Txyz, the fourth-dimensional demon (not an imp like Mxyzptlk) sees as the one that Jon will someday wear when he finishes the creature off in the future. I already love watching a villain create the source of his own defeat, but the fact that he acknowledges how badly he screwed up is even better. Otherwise, all I know about him is that he controls time. Jon really does have some odd ties with the fourth dimension considering his origin is tied to Mxyzptlk and his travels through the dimensions to get home. It might work better than my idea, which is why he gets paid to write Superman and I only occasionally use him in a parody/commentary comic.

This is the best image I could get of Jon’s “Tomorrow Man” outfit, stolen from one of his attackers. I do see the Nightwing influences Sasha was talking about, from both the Kryptonian version and Dick Grayson’s outfit, though Dick was inspired by stories of the Kryptonian hero Clark told him. It makes sense that it all comes together. Not a fan of the mask because it feels wrong for a member of the Superman family. Steel wears armor, so he should be the exception. The new symbol looks cool though not “T” enough, but not wearing the S would have to grow on me (Power Girl doesn’t have one at all but she’s only tangentially tied to the Superfamily on Earth-1), and we’ll have to see if the pouches serve any use or he just grabbed them and plans to refine the outfit later. At least lose the ones on the legs. Those were always the silly ones. At least the belt pouches make some kind of sense and look good. Batman had the right idea. Otherwise the outfit itself looks good, using elements of some of Jon’s previous costume attempts. The credits doesn’t have a separate list for creating the costume, so I’m assuming this was the book’s artist, Lucas Meyer, we have to thank. I like most of it. And it’s a cape, not a jacket! Which reminds me…

And don’t think I missed the lack of capes in these new costumes. Can you really not think of anything better than a jacket?

Yeah, I thought they were twins when I wrote that. Point is, if they’re still around I want to see them form a team with young Jon. Maybe the new Young Justice or the Superkids. Not sure how that affects Damian. Last I heard from the Bat-Family they were kind of having a squabble for reasons I’m not happy about. Would be nice to see them team-up again. The reason we wanted young Jon back was to see Superman actually raise his son more that two random kids he picked up on Warworld, a great way to learn what makes Superman…Superman. Learning from his dad we would be able to see Jon’s journey and understand what being a hero means in the DC universe. It also shows Clark Kent growing into fatherhood. The new kids were nice, but it’s not the same as missing father & son bonding moments, which are already difficult given how little time we see older Jon hang out with his dad.

I wonder if they’ll both be Jon? I have mentioned one of them (probably the older one as that’s the one fans disapprove of) could go by Jordan, the other son that only appeared in Superman & Lois. (Funny thing: Jon was played by an actor named Jordan but Jordan was played by an Alexander, or “Lex”. Lex is not played by a Jon so that loop is open.) In the story Jon comes off as more heroic than he has in a while, with writers who focused on his being gay or other social issues. Seeing him listen to Txyz’s taunts but having enough self-worth (without an inflated ego) to become his own hero, something a couple of Marvel heroes could learn or remember, instead of Superman II: The Quickening was good writing. Whatever else one can say about Dan Slott, he can write a good hero when he wants to. He did take the complaints of fans and fixed them.

I don’t see him fighting the “bisexually gay” thing though, where they call him bi but I’d be surprised if he dated women. Bisexuals aren’t always given fair treatment even in the LGBT+ community from what I hear, and having him date something other than a woman will get the activists in a huff that they’re silencing his gayness or some crap. It was just a shield to not age him up because DiDio and Brian Michael Bendis didn’t like the idea of kids in the comics because I think too many people don’t want kids reading comics due to their own ego issues. It’s not “kiddie crap” if someone the same age you were when you got into comics also enjoy it. All ages means ALL ages, not just the “everything for meeeeeeeeeeeeeeee” crowd or folks who want to look grown up without growing up. We’ll see on that front. Right now, romance shouldn’t be either Jon’s priority with Kal-El missing…again…young Jon coming back, and whatever else is going on in the Superfamily’s lives and the greater DC Universe post DC KO.

Still, welcome back, young Jon. If Peter Tomasi isn’t available then I hope you find someone who knows what to do with you. I’m always available, DC. I can find a use for all three superkids. Oh, and one more thing since we’re ripping off Jake & Leon‘s fixes:

I didn’t have reference for Damian’s current costume, but I like the traditional Robin look anyway.

NOW YOU SHOULD FIX THAT OTHER MISTAKE!

(Now I have another costume to learn to draw.)
