If you can’t, Bill is playing Green Arrow, Meredith is playing Black Canary (which means all but one of the Christmas special characters have been in the strip proper), and Max is playing Mephisto. For the record, Mephisto being in this play has a secondary purpose than dubbing him destroyer of marriages. Both the Spider-Marriage and the Arrow/Canary marriage were wiped out because the writer (or editor or whatever the title is now) chose to do so. The Queen family hasn’t really be wed that long, the wedding taking place not even a decade ago. For the DC Universe timeline, it might as well have been a month ago, three tops. That just really sucks.
So writer intent aside, do I think Ollie’s statement there would change her mind any more than Aunt May’s changed Peter’s? Maybe, maybe not. On the other hand he should have said SOMETHING or why marry her in the first stinkin’ place. Is it any wonder I’ve had it with the primary universes! That doesn’t mean I won’t complain as the current egomaniacs continue to ruin these characters.
As to why I had my characters playing these characters instead of the usual “use an alternate art style for Jake or Leon’s POV” gimmick, I couldn’t get the punchline (such as it is) to work that way. Also, I needed all four panels (although I snuck in a fifth panel, which at first draft was just going to be text), a situation that may come up again. I have this weird notion in my head that either Jake or Leon must appear in at least one panel per comic. I know there are plenty of comic strips where the supporting cast will be the only characters used and that the title character might not be mentioned every now and then, but it’s just the way I want to do things.
Using the “Jake & Leon Players” routine, I can have either Jake or Leon take on a character role, with the other characters playing other parts. This means I need to get a few more females in this comic besides the woman who is maybe 40ish and her 10ish year old daughter. I could bring back my RL friend or the “everything for meeeeeee” girl gamer (maybe pair her with her comic-reading male counterpart), but I definitely need to get some more lady characters they can be friends with in the skits.
