Going Over The Avengers: Doomsday Art Leak

Some time while I was preoccupied, concept art for Avengers: Doomsday ended up on the internet. Posted by Marvel Studios concept artist Mushk Rizvi, it was taken off his ArtStation account almost as quickly as it came up. However, someone on Reddit managed to collect the images and post it. If you want the larger zoom-in images, that’s where to go.

Concept art is not final design work. It’s to give a general idea of set and costume designs, so things may change and these aren’t necessarily actual scenes from Doomsday or anything else coming to the MCU movies and shows in the near future. Still, everyone is having fun trying to guess where things are going, so why shouldn’t I join the fun? Note that there are MCU stories, even when they were good, that I didn’t get into, like the Thor movies or anything on Disney+. I’ve seen reviews, commentaries, and stories on them, and of course I know the comics for the most part… probably better than anyone AT Marvel Studios. We can still analyze the art and see if we can theorize some ideas as to what they’re planning.

I’ll pop up a gallery (I’m playing with the block editor today, seeing how long it takes me to go back to Classic editor like the last two attempts) and then give my overall perspective. I tried to format it into slideshows and galleries but couldn’t get it to work the way I wanted, so just scroll down. Clicking on an image will open it in a new window.

“Yesterday’s” Comic> Sonic The Hedgehog #82

Sonic must really be thirsty. Didn’t work well for the frog.

Sonic The Hedgehog #82

PENCILER: Nelson Ribeiro

INKERS: Andrew Pepoy & Jim Amash

COLORIST: Frank Gagliardo

LETTERER: Jeff Powell

EDITOR: J.F. Gabrie

I had to research the first names because all they had in the credits were last names. I though I had all the pre-Sonic Adventure set-ups but I didn’t. This is the last one before Sonic Super Special #13, with three tales. I’ll go through them quick, but at least all the credits are for all three stories.

Free Comic Inside> Robo Force Feels The Heat

Free Comic Inside logo

Once again we return to the world of Max Steel’s Robo Force. As a reminder:

Wait, this isn’t a reminder. It’s a new series based on Nacelle’s new toyline, the second attempt to bring these characters back. The last one by Toyfinity used the “Glyos” system and BW Virtual Mentor Jerzy Drozd did a webcomic for it. Apparently this new show comes out in April, though as of this writing there’s no page for it on Tubi. Maybe I should have waited, but I already missed deadline, so too late!

You’d think a guy with flame throwers for hands would enjoy heat.

The original Ideal toyline, which had it’s own special, went for a more cylinder-shape, like putting an R2 unit on the rack. Not surprising that, when retro wasn’t as popular and you had Droids and Transformers running around, the line didn’t quite hit the height, as you can tell from the above it still maintains a fanbase. There were also four minicomics, one of which I’ve gone over in the past. Now it’s time for the second one. This one doesn’t feature the leader, Maxx Steel (not to be confused with the various teenage crimefighters of the 2000s to bear that name), but does feature the villain’s leader, Hun-Dred. And none of his flunkies. We do get a bunch of vehicles to sell.

You’ll have to do some hunting on this page from The Old Robots Website for “Menace Of The Heat Ray”. No credits again, just like the last one,

BW’s Daily Video> Kathleen Kennedy Still Haunting Star Wars

WARNING: Some cursing…and I don’t just mean Kennedy

I’ll believe it one way or another when I see it. My thoughts on her reign (of terror) as Disney LucasFilm remains. Even if she does (finally) leave, who succeeds her will affect my opinion on anything past the original trilogy, the prequels, the Droids cartoon and comics from Star and Dark Horse, the first Ewok TV movie, the early Clone Wars cartoons, and Shadows Of The Empire…the only canon I know because I haven’t read all the novels/comics or played most of the games.

Chapter By Chapter> Tom Clancy’s Op-Center: Mirror Image chapters 31 & 32

Chapter by Chapter features me reading one chapter (or possibly multiple chapter for this one) of the selected book at the time and reviewing it as if I were reviewing an episode of a TV show or an issue of a comic. There will be spoilers if you haven’t read to the point I have, and if you’ve read further I ask that you don’t spoil anything further into the book. Think of it as read-along book club.

We didn’t have much to talk about last chapter since it was just an interrogation. At least it was a full chapter. Today’s chapters are two pages and five pages respectively, so I’m going to combine them.

I did say back when I started this book that I wouldn’t be able to avoid political discussion due to the nature of the book and current events. As I write this, Russia is going after Ukraine because Vladimir Putin is trying the same thing that Dogin is in this book: restore communism and the Soviet Union to Russia whether the people want it or not. I’m not going to defend or trash Zelensky, the Ukrainian leader, because that’s too political for this site. I just find it interesting how I unintentionally started a book that almost predicts current events despite being published in paperback form in 1995. This is the first time I’m reading this novel and I totally didn’t see it coming. Still, it turns out to be surprisingly good timing, or would be if I were more politically minded on this site. (In real life I am but as far as BW Media Spotlight goes I’m more focused on the end result, not the creator’s politics or the reasons it failed beyond the preachiness in today’s entertainment.)

So realize I did not choose this book on purpose. God, fate, or cosmic coincidence are responsible here, as we go back to the book to see how they resolve things. Maybe President Trump should pick this up and take notes.
