Jackie Chan is better off being himself. Nobody can replace Bruce Lee…though there’s a whole “Brucesploitation” genre of actors who tried. And failed.

Last time we caught the murderer…except there’s seven chapters left, counting this one, so maybe not.
So we’re at that part in the one-chapter-at-a-time novel reviews when I’ve pretty much run out of things to say. Otherwise I’m just repeating everything I’ve been saying up to this point. I’m not sure when I’m going to get to the sequel, The IDIC Epidemic. It was the book I read first and remember enjoying enough at the time that I went and tracked down this novel. They’re interesting characters and I’m curious if Jean Lorrah or any other author used them after that. It will probably be the next Star Trek novel I review, but we need to finish this one first. Thanks to the article series intro I think that’s enough space for the homepage, so let’s see what happens next.
Okay, let’s just go over this here. The cover is the same art from Hardcase #5, where this story continues from. I get what they were thinking with the two covers forming one scene. That was a constant 90s gimmick. However, you’re supposed to put the two comics together, not have the same wraparound cover art on both comics. Unless the uploader created something that didn’t exist by creating these covers him/herself, this is just lazy and somehow more expensive, and my complaint about Hardcase‘s cover still stands.

Last week there was a comic but no Clutter Report. This week there’s a Clutter Report but no comic…and even then the Clutter Report is just talking about why there was no report that week and a brief assessment of where I am halfway through the year. I even had to give up a Friday post and Saturday Night Showcase just to keep from going crazy. Now I’m considering whether or not to take my usual birthday week off in July because of all the lost content, but it would be nice to have a week where I don’t have to go crazy.
This has not been the year where I pull myself together, outside of one week of a job that put some money in my pocket, but not a lot in this economy. Minor medical issues, major ones for others–creativity and decluttering have not been the priority I wanted it to be this year and that bothers me. I did manage to caption a few videos but I was hoping to be done with that by now and move forward on various comic and video projects. I was hopeful that the last obstacle to getting BW Gameplay, the story-based game review project, would get past the last hurdle and I found a way to get Batman: Vengeance, the first game in the block of five voted on so many years ago, to finally run on Windows 10. We didn’t but my friend is not giving up on the idea. We’ll see how that goes.
If there are no distractions this week I’d at least like to get back to normal, and set up a decent working schedule. That mean more of the Chapter By Chapter review of Star Trek: The Vulcan Academy Murders, and there’s only a handful of chapters left of that before we start a new book. The next few Sonic reviews will be Sonic Super Specials before returning to the main stories of Sonic The Hedgehog and Knuckles The Echidna. Otherwise my goal is to get stuff out on time without resulting to longer filler videos in place of the day’s feature article. Will I succeed? Place your bets and join us all week. Have a great week, everyone!

Two articles from Bounding Into Comics leads one to question the future of the morphenominal heroes. I know I’m happy to hear that the “adult” Power Rangers was canceled. (Bonus article: me going over why a kids brand doesn’t need a grown-up version, with the only “counterpoint” being one commenter saying “yes we do” without further explaining.) However, the article notes no report of a new kids version either.
Meanwhile, the attempt to drain the sentai from the franchise called upon by producer Simon Bennett. also mentioned in that article, may have something to due with the news in the second article, that Hasbro never actually wanted the Power Rangers brand. It’s kind of a shame given that I thought Hasbro was doing a good job with building on Ranger lore (though of course making the tomboy gay because stereotyping is popular in Hollywood), though Cosmic Fury didn’t look like much of anything with what few clips I’ve seen because it moved to Netflix. Maybe the toy company shouldn’t have been so quick to form it’s own TV company just so they wouldn’t have to share with other companies, learning nothing from the failure of The Hub.
