The Cassandra Caintrospective (By Linkara)

And thus a storyline concludes.

I had no idea how right their words were. The recurring story of four DC characters trapped in a cell and slowly let out (and ruined) by the New 52 wasn’t the only problem. The biggest reason I give (but not even close to the only reason) for not wanting to see the Harley Quinn movie by Margot Robbie is the treatment of Cassandra Cain, former Batgirl and currently going by Orphan last I heard. Cass went from the awesome character in the comics to a pickpocket punk teen with foster parent issues who decides to idolize Harley (or at least Robbie’s version of her based on her Suicide Squad movie appearance, which I hear Harley fans aren’t happy with either). It’s a good example of how you ruin a first appearance for a character who could have been far more interesting.

This is probably not the reason that Lewis Lovhaug, aka Linkara of Atop The Fourth Wall had for doing his “Cassandra Caintrospective”, a multi-episode overview of the history of Cassandra Cain, created to be the ultimate assassin only to have the methodology backfire and convince her NOT to kill people. Since this is a crazy week and I don’t know what I’m going to be getting out (next week won’t be much better) I thought I post the compilation video of the retrospective. No storylines, only one opening and closing credit sequence, and the almost full history of a character who frankly deserves a lot better than the (as of this writing) mess of a solo out-of-comic appearance she’s had thus far.

Chapter By Chapter> Robotech: Before The Invid Storm chapter 4

Chapter By Chapter features me reading one chapter of the selected book at the time and reviewing it as if I were reviewing an episode of a TV show or an issue of a comic. There will be spoilers if you haven’t read to the point I have, and if you’ve read further I ask that you don’t spoil anything further into the book. Think of it as read-along book club.

In the previous chapter we didn’t so much meet the Shimada family as learn a bit about them through characters you’d only know through other ancillary media, as in not the comics and novels before it. So we just have the Starchildren left to be introduced to. Meanwhile Nova wants to check into Zand’s theories about Dana, whatever they were. Even a crazy man can get something right I guess.

I did a quick skim of the chapter because I’m really wondering how long it’s going to take for Colonel Wolff to get here. It won’t be this chapter so I’m curious what’s going to happen. Is it more worldbuiding, more plot development, or both? All I know for sure is that we’re spending more time with Dana, so let’s read on and find out.

BW’s Daily Bragging: I’m A Wikipedia Source

I forgot to mention this in yesterday’s update. I was surprised to see Wikipedia come up in my refer links on my WordPress dashboard. So after a quick search I found out that it’s an article on the Transformers film series, specifically the section on spin-off media that includes the Cyber Missions web series loosely based on the Bayverse. As of this writing the playlist they had is down and the new one (that I’m using as a placeholder) is a bit of a mess. I’ll make a proper playlist via my own channel when I get a chance.

This marks the second Transformers article from this site to be used as a reference source. Although I can’t seem to find the reference link anymore at TV Tropes I was used as a source discussing Arcee’s forced sex change in the IDW comics, which they later retconned (frankly that makes it worse in my opinion rather than owning up to their mistake). That credit seems to be gone for whatever reason but I have this one for now so I can still brag about that.

Jake & Leon #520: Repl-Aced

Sorry, a better name didn’t come to me, but at least it’s fitting.

I found in short research a lot of German Shepherds, the DCAU had a Black Dane mix, and one bulldog.

It’s been a tiring weekend in that I’ve had some sleeping issues. This week’s Clutter Report was a video of someone else cleaning their craft room/office combo, which is at least close to what I’m doing here.

Unfortunately the next two weeks are going to be hectic, with a number of doctor appointments coming close together. So if I miss a post or use a lot of filler video type stuff it can’t be helped but I still apologize. We’ll still get this week’s Chapter By Chapter review of Robotech: Before The Invid Storm and Friday will be the final installment of the Many, Many Intros Of Superman (which will include the Krypto cartoon, fittingly enough for this week’s comic). This is all I can really promise this week and I don’t even know what next week has in store. At any rate, have a good week and hopefully I still give you reason to stop by.
