Another week, another pull list. No word about the script to put my list up here (see last week’s comments, hi ComiXologist!), so we’re still doing the text thing. I can put up images of my comic with the review. Note that the review might be a bit late, since the comic store is closed Thursday, and we’ll have to see how I feel after work Friday (Black Friday isn’t so bad in grocery, but I have to pass a K-Mart to get to the comic store, and I’m hoping I can get back home with the traffic.

Transformers: All Hail Megatron #5 Publisher: IDW

Writer: Shane McCarthy
Artist: Guido Guidi
Cover? Colorists?:Guidi and Trevor Hutchison (c)
I don’t know what the (c) stands for, but I know this comic has been good so far. Maybe because it isn’t a Simon Furman story, but I’m enjoying it quite a bit. No cosmic crisises. No five different, unrelated storylines. Just Megatron’s attack, the human response, and what’s happened between Furman’s last arc and “today” with the Autobots. IDW decided to take the comic in a different direction, and the story of the Decepticons taking the planet shows just what the Autobots have been fighting to prevent all these years. Now if I can get them to let me write the story of what the Autobots lost because of the war, I’d be happy. Kudos to Shane McCarthy, who had me at the beginning of this maxi-series, but made me a fan with a pre-war story in Spotlight: Blurr. This month is supposed to give us more as to what happened to the Autobots, which I’m very interested in. Keep this guy writing the G1 universe, and I’ll be happy.

Darn you, Joe Quesada! It’s bad enough you canceled the best Iron Man series since Mike Grell started it on the road to hell ruin…no, I do mean hell! Then the final story of MA:IM isn’t titled Marvel Adventures: Iron Man! They title it Iron Man: Armored Avenger or something like that, which I took to be another 616 book, which I’ve long since abandoned. So what happens when I find out about it? It’s all sold out! So that’s why I’m getting the half-sized Digest version–if they’re not sold out! Again, I only find out about this when it’s too late to order. I want to cry!

Cover By: Roger Cruz
Writer: Paul Tobin
Pencils: Jack Abel
Paul Tobin is one of my new heroes. He’s not afraid to take the three big movie Marvel characters, Iron Man, Spider-Man, and the Hulk, and put them into the craziest situations, but still pull them off. Want examples? How about Klaw, the sonic powered supervillain giving up evil to start a country music band? How about Hercules getting them to dog-sit the Hounds of the Underworld, where they end up entering them in a dog show? This time he has Doctor Strange (a character I couldn’t otherwise care about) recruiting webhead to use his webbing to seal up the holes in reality itself. Heck, he had me at Doc Strange drinking an expresso while casually checking on the barriers between dimensions. How can you not love this comic?

Tomorrow I won’t be making a post, due mostly to Thanksgiving, but I will hopefully work on a Friday Night Fights for tomorrow. Otherwise, you’ll be seeing another “best of”, but those can be fun. For those who celebrate it, have a Happy Thanksgiving, and don’t forget to give thanks for what you do have, and leave worring about what you don’t for the next day. Personally, I’m just thankful I made it through this year. Stupid Crohn’s disease!

They’re really just an edited version of this one, taking out what spoilers I can. Plus, I’m rather “long-winded” on this site, but I’m sure you’ve noticed. 😀 I’d be using your site anyway, because it is helpful for off-blog stuff as well.
