In the Fathom universe, Aspen is on a dead world, the war between the Blue and the surface world ending with all the water going away. While trying to care for a drying out crab, Aspen is met with a skeletal dragon thing, and assuming it’s more tech (not sure from which side) attacks it. The pilot is trying to get her to stop and listen, but Aspen takes the thing over and attacks with water. When the pilot, Malikai of the magic-based Soulfire Universe, finally gets her to listen, she shows Aspen that her world is also a wasteland, but she has a plan to save both worlds.
This is a precursor to what I believe from the text and character bios is the “Revelations” event is an attempt to merge the various Aspen universes “Crisis On Infinite Earths” style, creating one shared universe. I don’t know a lot about the Soulfire universe, but I’m not sure that’s really necessary. A crossover is not really a bad idea, but I don’t see the two concepts merging as one universe.
The art is well done, including the battle between Aspen and Malikai, I’ll give it that.
Overall it’s a good story critically. I’m just not convinced the goal was necessary.
