Welcome to the most popular segment of my two-week old blog. This week ComiXology tells me that I have six comics I ordered, plus hopefully the Iron Man comic from last week. So what do I want to get and why? Check it, homekids!

Yes, I hate myself.

Doctor Who: The Forgotten #4(IDW)

I’m a big Doctor Who fan, but you knew that already. This month (on time this time?) will feature stories from the last two classic Doctors, before somebody canceled the series. Unfortunately, I’m not getting a vibe that Doctors 8 and 9 are going to appear next issue, which would be a mistake. I’m also wondering if Pia Guerra is back as the artist. If not, I hope Tony Lee is back, as his work last issue was just as good as Pia’s. Place your bets now as to which companions Doctor 6 will have, but I’m betting Doctor 7 will be Ace. The one companion the two share, Melanie, isn’t a fan favorite.

EDIT: Silly puppy. Tony’s the WRITER. Stefano Martino is the artist last issue, and was as good as Pia. I just noticed that two days later. I’m going to cry in the corner now.

The Dreamland Chronicles #6(IDW/Blue Dream Studios)

Interestingly, writer/artist Scott Christian Sava was interviewed today by Comic Book Resources. Sure, I can read the comic online (see “What Are You Reading”, stage left), but there’s nothing like having the comic in my hands. (Plus I haven’t had time to get myself up to date. A lot of problems this year.) It’s a fun story involving a kid returning to the land of his dreams, to find nightmares have taken over. This comic is proof that “all-ages” can still be action packed and pull no punches, although the real action is yet to come in the print version. Read it online, and I’m sure you’ll be getting the offline version as well.

Iron Man/Hulk: Fury (Marvel)

If you’re signed up to Marvel Digital, you’ve already read these two stories based in the “Marvel Studios” universe (the current movie continuity currently featuring Iron Man and the Hulk), one of which I think was released by Wal-Mart with their Incredible Hulk DVD special. See how Tony and Rhodes became friends. Watch Nick Fury meet the Hulk. I haven’t seen the Hulk movie (those health and money issues again–I hate this year), but Iron Man is one of my favorite movies ever, so this should be good.

Supergirl: Cosmic Adventures in the Eight Grade #1 (DC)

Remember when female heroes weren’t designed as sexy eye candy?

Me, either. How about when they weren’t so blatant about it.

Ok, still drawing a blank, but never mind. This Supergirl is only 13. However, she probably hasn’t been driven nuts by Kryptonite poisioning, won’t be stalked, and may actually be fun. Just check the Newsarama preview. Luthor’s an evil scientist instead of an evil businessman. And he’s wearing the old green and purple. I agree with some complaints about the hair that I’ve heard, but she’s not supposed to look like the current Supergirl, she’s only 13. I don’t agree that she looks like a boy. Tomboy, maybe. I’m looking forward to this.

UPDATE: An interview with “Cosmic” writer Landry Walker.

The Tranformers: Timelines: Shattered Glass (One-Shot) Fall Special (Fun Publications)

The Diamond release version of a comic created for this year’s Botcon, the annual Transformers convention, “Shattered Glass” treads new ground (outside of more than a few fanfics, but…) where the Decepticons and Autobots do the Mirror Universe switch. Now Megatron is the good guy, and Optimus rules Cybertron with an iron fist. (Figuratively speaking.) It’s cheaper getting it this way than through the Transformers Club website (even with my member’s discount), so I’m hoping the store owner saw this and said “hey, Troy will want this”.

Transformers Animated: The Arrival #5 (IDW)

While I’m not a fan of the art style (and wasn’t when the Teen Titans cartoon used it), I do enjoy the stories of this series. As much as I like anime, there was just no life to what fans call “the Unicron Trilogy”. Animated gets back to what makes Transformers interesting: characters. They really do a good job bringing robotic lifeforms to Earth and having both sides learn from each other while kicking robotic butt. (I’m not really a fan of the “human supervillains”, however.) The Arrival plays off the cartoon in ways I wish Marvel and DC had done for their “based of the cartoon version” spin-off had, rather than try to emulate the main universe, claim to be based of the cartoon, and get surprised when Bruce Timm’s team comes up with something different.

And yes, I do realise that most of my comics seem to come from IDW. They have the Transformers and Doctor Who license. What are you going to do? That’s almost half my monthly haul right there. So which ones will I have the money to get this week? The Pull List page tabulates my total at about $25.00, and I’m not sure I can spend that all at once. So come back and see what I get and what I thought. Until then.

Yeah, it’s not in the solicits, and ComiXology only has the photo cover for the next issue, but the next time page this issue does have Doctor’s 8 & 9.

Wait, I actually have a celeb already? Cool! Nice job on the book, by the way.

EDIT: Fixed the last issue artist credit in this post.
