OK, with nothing special until the Friday Night Fights coming up (site related), I’m spending the whole week going through my RSS feeds before vacation, and posting anything relevant to the Spotlight’s mission statement. I’ll use up all four days if I have to, since I don’t want to have a mile-long page of articles for you to read, but it’s time to work this down a bit.

Not that this will be the last time you see one of these articles. Sometimes I find postings interesting enough to share, but not enough to go all rant-happy or praise-fest on it. So there will be more. It’s just time to clean out the attic, as it were.

  • The Four Color Media Monitor was nice enough to gather together the latest comments from Danny D and Mistah Johns about what they’re doing to poor Barry “Flash 2” Allen and the rest of DC’s “speedsters” lately, and how the fans aren’t always reacting happily to it. Maybe because they’re ruining the character? Just a thought.
  • Who knew a simple costume change could be so controversial? I’m still remembering when the actress in the TV series Felicity (and so went the title character she portrayed) had her long hair cut, and the fan outrage that followed. I still don’t understand that. Apparently the new Felicity haircut is Supergirl’s shorts. Both the Weekly Crisis and Supergirl Comic Box Commentary weigh in on the debate about why a teenager flying through the air should want to cover her girly bits while wearing a miniskirt. Isn’t there a war going on or an economic crisis to worry about?
  • TV Shows on DVD has the art for the new Superman/Batman: Public Enemies DVD and a list of the bonus features. There’s also an official website for the direct-to-video animated movie.
  • Variety reports that SciFi, sorry, Syfy (jeez) is going to remake Alien Nation, the movie turned TV series about a former slave race trying to fit in on Earth. Why? The old series isn’t that old. If they’re comparing it to the Battlestar Galactica remake (which granted was a success for the network), I see many fans of the original series about to become rather unhappy.
  • Spider-Girl, the alternate universe Spidey series (even before Brand New Day wiped out the Spider-Marriage and Baby May had been written out a long time sooner) that finally lost the battle to avoid cancellation, may be responsible for saving Amazing Spider-Man Family, the anthology series based in the various Spider-Man timelines.

And if that wasn’t enough reading for you, there will be a lot more tomorrow. I’m going to get this thing manageable yet.
