Apparently I’m not the only blog who does these kind of articles, so I feel vindicated on that route. Here’s some more articles of interest that aren’t worth a full rant.

  • The nominations for the Harvey Awards, comicdom’s answer to the Oscars and Emmys, are out. But there seems to be some controversy involved just because a NASCAR comic is among them. You decide if this is stupider than Supergirl’s wardrobe (see yesterday). Again: War. Economic problems. Health care concerns. Perspective, people!
  • Writer Andy Mangles, with numerous comics and sci-fi novels to his credit, is hurting for money to the point that he’s auctioning off some prize original artwork by famed comics artist George Perez. It’s like someone’s trying to scare me out of the same pursuit, but lack of a potential steady income in this field did that to me for years, and look where I am today.
  • George Clooney may actually be doing something I’d like to see? Nah. It’s still an interesting project, though, if only for the history behind it.
  • The late Michael Jackson’s strange connection to comics. (Some would say there was little normal about the Gloved One in his final years.)
  • The Watchmen GN finally fell down the charts that it’s dominated since the movie, and the former New York Times bestseller wasn’t exactly low comic on the totem pole before the movie.
  • Top Cow took all the fun out of the Pilot Season comics. Apparently, all the comics will now be the creation of Robert Kirkman, creator of comics such as Invincible. Considering it’s the over-the-top bloodspilling keeping me from reading that comic, and I hear most of his other work isn’t much better, I’m not pleased. I also want Velocity to start being made since I loved that Pilot Season comic.

OK, rest your eyes. We have two more days of Spring Cleaning (it doesn’t feel much like Summer in CT–where’s my global warming, Al Gore?) left to go.
