Sonic Universe #18
Archie Comics (September 2010)
WRITER: Ian Flynn PENCILER: Tracy Yardley INKER: Jim Amash COLORIST: Jason Jensen LETTERER: Phil Felix COVER: Tracy Yardley & Ben Hunzeker ASSISTANT EDITOR: Paul Kaminski EDITOR: Mike Pellerito EDITOR-IN-CHIEF: Victor Gorelick
After escaping Speedy the “Battlekukku”, Tails and T-Pup prepare their next move. Meanwhile, Bunny uses her permanently roboticized parts to pretend to be “legionized” and an agent of Robotnik. She meets with the leader of the Battlekukku to learn their secrets, as Antoine attempts an escape. Tails is able to reclaim the Sea Fox, but Antoine’s escape doesn’t appear to go well as he falls into the ocean.
What they got right: I’m still enjoying Tails, my favorite Sonic character, kicking butt and proving he’s grown, but not so much that he forgets who his hero is. If T-Pup doesn’t come out of this mini-series and into the Archie Sonicverse, I’m going to be rather ticked. And even though this is Tails’ story, Bunnie and Antoine are still doing what they should be doing on their own.
What they got wrong: Exactly how does Speedy float in midair without even flapping his wings. Tails at least needs to have his tails spinning like a helicopter in order to fly. It’s questionable physics, but makes sense for the Sonicverse. Speedy flies like Superman and goes on and on in his (Mobian) racist rant about how only animals with wings should be able to fly, but he’s not using any.
Recommendation: The Adventures of Tails and T-Pup is something I would write on the cheap (I’d do it for free if I had the resources) in order to make it exist. Just find me an equally willing artist that’s good at what he/she does, and I’ll make people happy. And by “people” I mean me. 🙂

This will be me if T-Pup doesn't join the regular cast.
Tomorrow’s Comic> Marvel Adventures: Spider-Man #4, because the big “Spider-Man” on the cover confused me when sorting this week’s reviews alphabetically.
