I’m starting to realize (a bit late) that “Evolution” may have been the wrong term for this special Friday Night Fight series. This has mostly been just posting Bumblebee/Goldbug fights, but I also didn’t realize that there were so many fights with the yellow fellow in the Marvel titles, and that includes fights that didn’t quite work for the tournament and one I’ve already used in the “Fight Music” tournament.

We’re still stuck in the Furman years, but in his defense he actually wasn’t too bad at the time. Some time after the “Matrix Quest” saga seems to be when went off of the rails, but here we do see a great Bumblebee moment, with a little help from his friends.

Round 11 of 12

The Battlefield: The Transformers #61 again by way of Titan Publishing‘s “Primal Scream“, which is also the title of this story. I actually have the comic, but it’s somewhere in the mess of a comic collection I have. (Plus the other collections I need to go through..QUICK PLUG!

The Promoters: Simon Furman (writer) Geoff Senior (artist), Jim Massara (letterer), Nel Yotmov (you know), and Don Daley (editor)

Quick wrap up: Bumblebee and some other Autobots are in the center of Cybertron where they meet Primus, the Transformer god that was never mentioned ever until the sixth to last page of the previous issue. They can’t wake him or Unicron will find them and eat Primus (so now Unicron is a cannibal god–okay…) but a bunch of Decepticon Pretenders have followed them to the planetary core.

Bludgeon...roadkill!

Yes, Furman is telling us we don’t need God here, which does bug me. On the other hand, Primus turns out to be a jerk to his creation.

"But I don't have my boaaaaaaaaard!"

That’s right, kids. Bumblebee’s keen strategic mind strikes again, and with help from a fellow Autobot, shows up what would become a beloved Transformers character in the fandom. Badass? More like wet and sore ass.
