I don’t know what Spacebooger’s rules are involving webcomics. With regular comics they’re supposed to be six months old, but how that applies to webcomics I can’t say. Luckily, The Dreamland Chronicles received a short publishing run thanks to IDW (although writer/artist Scott Christian Sava self-published his own GNs.

I’ve mentioned this comic before and it sits in the blog roll (as of this time, located in the footer of my site, although I can’t promise I’ll never change the theme again). It’s a great comic, and proof that “all-ages” does NOT automatically equal “kiddie crap”. Tonight I’m posting scans from the IDW book that I grabbed at random. OK, actually the one I grabbed was a few issues ahead but there was no fight there and I remembered this one.

Fight Night Round 6

The Battlefield: The Dreamland Chronicles #1 (chapter one of the online version)

The Promoter: Scott Christian Sava (writer/artist)

Young Alex and his friends are flying around when they come across a giant cyclops trying to step and eat on a village of teddy bears. Did I mention this is a dream world?

That went as well as expected.

So threatening him doesn’t work (especially when it’s four kids, one of whom is a fairy, one an elf, one a human, and the last a rock boy). That doesn’t stop Paddington Rumblebottom III (seriously, that’s his name) from trying.

I didn't know rock could do that.

So Alex and Nastajia (that’s the elf girl) decided to climb onto the cyclops’ foot.

OUCH!

At this point he kind of defeats himself.

I like seeing how Fred awards the in-fight winner to panels like this.

Apparently this kills the cyclops because years later when the adult Alex returns to Dreamland and Kiwi (the fairy) takes him back to the village, he finds that grass has grown over the carcass (I guess decomposing cyclopes in the ocean isn’t so nauseating in Dreamland) and is now a vacation spot for the teddies. Oh, and there’s this.

That’s http://www.thedreamlandchronicles.com. Go read.
