So the trailer is out for the upcoming Smurfs movie. People will tell you that you shouldn’t judge a movie by its trailer. Give it a chance. Maybe it will be good.
They haven’t seen this trailer.
Where do I start? How about the character models. They’re obviously CG but they look like clay. They might have been better off with calling the Henson Creature Shop for the close-ups.
I’m risking the wrath of Hank Azaria fans when I complain about his Gargamel, but really I’m complaining about the writing with the one line we saw. “Don’t milk it?”
But the worst part, besides Smurfette having a Marilyn Monroe moment while the male Smurfs get horny? (I should never have to write that sentence. EVER!) What the smurf is up with the Scottish stereotype? Honestly? I can pick out Hefty, Brainy, Smurfette, and Papa but what is with Mr. “Enchanted Forest”? What Smurf episode or comic story does he come from? Because I sure as smurf don’t remember him. Who the heck (don’t want to overdo a gag) thought he was a good addition?
Folks, this does not bode well for this movie.
