Today is my 38th anniversary of existing outside of my mommy’s tummy. So obviously I don’t want to sit here and write a heavy article. As it is I’m supposed to be on vacation this week. Not that I have the money to go anywhere or do anything.

So in place of an actual article, here’s an interesting video. Ever watch the latest flood of internet reviews and wonder what the behind the scenes process is? Well, every reviewer has their own style, and software that works best for them, so unless they all post their process the best I can do is one reviewer.

James Rolfe is an amateur horror film maker probably better know for his video game review show The Angry Video Game Nerd. He’s one of the “fathers” of internet reviewing along with Doug “Nostalgia Critic” Walker. Rolfe has posted a video showing what he does to produce an episode of his famous series, which is posted by Gametrailers as part of their deal with gaming site ScrewAttack.. Now because he’s a filmmaker he obviously has the high-end camera and equipment, plus years of experience in filmmaking. So most internet reviewers aren’t going to have the resources he has. Still, there are parts of his process which are universal to reviewers. Here, Rolfe uses the NES version of Barbie as an example for his process.

Vodpod videos no longer available.

You can find out more on Rolfe and his film making (including his other review show, Board James, where he reviews board games, as well as nostalgia videos, like his current look at the Ninja Turtles franchise) at his own website, Cinemassacre.com. Rolfe also put up his older videos at YouTube or his other YouTube page, and does movie reviews for Spike’s website. You can find the first four volumes of AVGN on DVD at ScrewAttack’s store.

Now for birthday cake.
