Two Spidey stories. In the first, a kid and his bully get drawn into Spidey’s attempt to grab a super-explosive pumpkin bomb from an unaware Green Goblin. In the second, Madame Masque forces the tenants of an apartment building out to use it as a secret storage area, but Spidey meets a family who used to live there.

What they got right: Both stories deliver action, yet still have a nice moment, with a kid impressing his bully or a little girl who gets a ride from Spider-Man. The art is decent enough, although nothing wowing.

What they got wrong: Why two stories again? The use of a continuity that Tobin brought to this title seems to have slipped recently, and this time it’s two comic stories instead of just one. It’s disappointing enough to lose what Tobin brought to the title, but now it’s going down the other way. Also, Green Goblin just runs around throwing bombs everywhere. I’m not sure how he was used in previous stories prior to Tobin coming on board, but for Spider-Man’s worst enemy he’s surprisingly tame, even for a kids comic.

Recommendation: While the broad picture brings up issues, the stories were still fun to read taken on their own. I still recommend it.

Although, I didn’t find a moment I really found “Best Scene” worthy.
