We’ll be looking at the updates on the logos later this week.
Not a whole lot of personal news this week, outside of not being able to do anything Clutter Report related. Stuff just happened this week. The latest on SOPA is that a number of Congresspeople who planned on voting for it changed their minds so the bill was pushed aside. However, they’re sure to bring up again, possibly after the election when the studios can see who they can bribe or bully into approving it. You may have also heard that file-sharing site Megaupload was taken down by the feds and people arrested. This brings to question why SOPA/PIPA is even needed plus the fact that a lot of reviewers and businesses used the site for legitimate purposes so apparently they got screwed over for no reason. Is there that much illegal file sharing on the site? Maybe in their porn section but who cares about that? 🙂
The ESA has also pulled their support after a group of video game reviews announced they were pulling out of E3 in protest. I’m assuming a number of gamers and gaming media (possibly even game developers) who thought SOPA/PIPA was a bad idea also complained to the ESA and they decided that the bill was the WRONG way to stop software piracy. Still at least there’s good news on that front.
I should also note that notorious hacker group Anonymous decided to retaliate by shutting down government and entertainment industry websites. Look, guys, hacking sites and shutting them down like this doesn’t support the anti-censorship cause. It not only makes you look childish but will only turn the government against the internet community, including hackers, and give the MPAA and RIAA more fuel to push something like SOPA/PIPA because they can make you look like a pro-piracy group and make it appear you act for us, which you don’t. Shutting down Megaupload was a bad idea, but you are only making it worse and setting yourselves up for arrests–which by the way you deserve. I’m all in favor of fighting back the right way, but you’re only making things worse for the rest of us, not helping. SO KNOCK IT OFF!
- Reviewers Unknown: It’s a reposting of my Linkara style review of the GoBots illustrated promo booklet. This is kind of in honor of a few GoBot fansites, including a forum I frequented, sadly going down. My old Transformers site, which included a GoBots section, lost its host and I don’t think I have time to restart it elsewhere.
- Man In Black Reviews: I did a cameo for JasonzSon’s review of the novel Deadline, part of Mira Grant’s “Newsflesh” series about bloggers after the zombie apocalypse (and I didn’t even know there WOULD be an after). Myself and a few other bloggers who double (or in my case dabble) in the video ranks were invited to participate. I show up early on but please check out the rest of the review.
Best Scene of This Week’s Reviews
Mega Man #9

I like the way Wood Man is introduced in this scene.
Sadly there won’t be a best scene next week. I couldn’t afford to pick up my comics, and I hate this like you can’t believe. Instead it’s all old comics as I go through some more of my Babylon 5 comic collection. Hopefully there will be new and newish comics the week after.
Still not happy.
