Dick Clark earned the title of “America’s Oldest Teenager” because even a stroke a few years ago couldn’t hold back that youthful energy he had. However, he wasn’t immortal and it was announced yesterday that he passed away at 82, the 2011-2012 New Years Rockin’ Eve being his final appearance unless I missed a cameo or interview somewhere.
Some of you probably know him best for that and may just about remember TV’s Bloopers & Practical Jokes alongside Ed McMahon. However, American Bandstand was still bopping when I was a kid. I wasn’t really into it but I certain respect the benefit it had on the music industry. Of course, he also hosted various versions of the Pyramid game show. He’s left a huge mark on music, though, between Bandstand andNew Year’s Rockin’ Eve, and will be missed.
