I’m showing Cover “A” by the interior artists. Frankly, I’ve about had it with trying to write down all of the variant cover art teams. From now on I’m just going to list who drew the feature cover if different from the interior art.

Old Hob has Raphael and Casey cornered and we learn Hob is working for Stockman to bring Splinter and the Turtles back to recover their experiment. The boys don’t fare well against Hob’s goons, until the other three Turtles arrive, reuniting the brothers at last.

What they got right: A good wrap-up to the first arc. While there are still larger mysteries (who is Krang, and how close are they playing him to his TV show namesake, are the ninjas the Foot and when do we meet the Shredder?), that will unfold as the series continues (and some probably have by now since you can tell how behind I am). The addition of Old Hob is a good one to the Turtles’ rogues gallery.

What they got wrong: To be honest I have nothing to put here. While I still don’t know why they needed to reboot the universe, or change the origin this much, it’s a good story that seem to at least maintain the spirit of the original TMNT universe.

Recommendation: Based on these four issues I say give the series a look, whether you were a fan of the previous comics/cartoons or not. You might find something interesting here.

Bet that stings a bit.
