News came over Twitter yesterday that famed comic artist Joe Kubert passed away at the age of 85. A legend in the industry, I have never heard a bad word about his artwork. His love of comics was so great that he formed a school just for learning how to draw comics. While I never really followed his career (since for most of my youth the only comic I picked up regularly was The Transformers) I see the effect he’s had on people I do pay attention to now. Two of his sons, Andy (who was working with his father on Before Watchmen: Nite Owl miniseries) and Adam, have followed in his footsteps and he has three other children. Joe now joins his wife, Muriel, who passed in 2008.
