Events have got me in a bum mood tonight, so here’s a video link, because I know the reviewing community has issues with people posting their stuff. Noah “The Spoony One” Antwiler has been posting a series of interviews with Richard “Lord British” Garriott about his Ultima game franchise. The video I linked to shows all the books of character design that he had to hand-code since this was before the days of game engines and “what you see is what you get” graphics programs that did the coding for you. It’s a lot of work and shows just how much effort, creativity, and a little ripping off Garriott did to bring his world to life.
He’s also working on another game, Shroud Of The Avatar. I don’t follow Ultima so I don’t know if this new game is set in that world or not, but hopefully it will be good for the fans of his games.
