Since this one was on the cover of a comic reviewed for Today’s Comic and I made that joke, you can already tell where this is coming from. So let’s just get into the action.

Friday Night Fights clean logo“Sugar Ray” round 2

The Battlefield: The Transformers #28 (Marvel; May, 1987) “Mechanical Difficulties!”

The Promoters: Bob Budiansky (writer), Don Perlin (penciler), Ian Akin & Brian Garvey (inkers), Nel Yomtov (colorist), and Janice Chiang (letterer)

As I said in the review, the cops and the Autobots both want to get their hands on the Mechanic, but the cops orders are to take the robots down first…and apparently ignore the robots attempts to stop the Mechanic, thus making their jobs harder instead of easier.

That’s one heavy door.

And so our thief is able to create the event from the cover.

You know, when I think wood on metal “bonk” isn’t one of the sounds effects that comes to mind.

And as the Mechanic himself noted later, the police just helped the Mechanic get away with all the Autobot tools to continue his one-man crime spree (well, Juan helps). Nice going, guys.
