Long story short: Mister Sinister tricks Gambit and Rogue into thinking she can now control her powers and can finally be all kissy with each other. He lied, of course, and the end result is…
…really poorly drawn Rogue. She absorbed so much of Gambit that she not only has his powers but his eyes, a bit of his hairstyle, and even spits out a “mon ami” at one point. She’s not in a good mood.

“Sugar Ray” round 3
The Battlefield: What If…? Volume 2 #100 (Marvel Comics; September, 1997) “Paper Skin”
The Promoters: Ivan Velez (co-plot/script), Klaus Janson (co-plot/artist), Glynis Oliver (colorist), and Chris Eliopoulos (letterer)
Rogue finally catches up to Mister Sinister and proceeds to use none of Gambit’s powers, except as a fake-out for the readers. Just the usual stuff she stole from Ms. Marvel.
But that appears to be enough.
