Nightwing #8
DC Comics (May, 1997)
“The Bigger They Are” WRITER: Chuck Dixon PENCILER: Scott McDaniel INKER: Karl Story COLORIST: Roberta Tewes SEPARATIONS: Jamison LETTERER: John Costanza ASSOCIATE EDITOR: Darren Vincenzo EDITOR: Scott Peterson
Nightwing tackles Blockbuster, but his combination of brains and brawn turns out to be too much for the acrobat. Instead of killing him the same way and drawing out Batman, Blockbuster instead has a biker gang try to kill him…and they get their butts whipped. Down but not out, Dick tries to obtain the services of a bum, trying to build his info network. However, the bum is beat up by a more violent vigilante.
I’m kind of torn on this one. On the one hand, Blockbuster will make an interesting foil for Nighwing, but on the other you kind of hope he could finish this adventure to start the new one. Instead we get some jerk beating up homeless guys. I don’t hate it but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t have an issue with it. The art’s still terrible, though.
Recommendation: It does continue the story so it’s at least worth it for that. I still want to see where this goes.
