Things are getting worse for Winged Victory and now the Council Of Nike are on her case for accepting help from men, namely Samaritan and the Confessor, who have figured out how the women disappeared right in front of the Choirboys. Luckily, the other character in the story has stumbled upon Karnizon, and butts are about to be kicked.
Before I get into the review, this is Karnazon
What they got right: That is the most awesomely awful “costume” I have ever seen. It’s like they merged the Joker with Sabertooth. I believe they did that in the “Dark Claw” comics back when DC and Marvel got along long enough to create the Amalgam Universe, but this is still cooler in its awfulness. Also, we get some closure for Winged Victory, and her true identity, Lauren, gets some happy endings as well.
What they got wrong: Taking this long to explain Karnizon’s problem with Winged Victory. Wondering about that was a distraction and while what we get did work I would have preferred it sooner.
Recommendation: Astro City remains a great alternate take on superheroes without making them darker or secretly evil or more hated than the X-Men, or anything else that isn’t Love & Capes. You should already be getting this comic.
