This is the Fourth Of July, or to use the proper name, Independence Day, where we of the United States celebrate our liberation from imperial rule to form a country where the people decide how we will live. Insert political joke here. I have nothing in my comic library to celebrate this event and this is the Friday Night Fights so the best I could do was Captain America. And he brought his friends.

“Boogaloo” round 3
The Battlefield: The Invaders (which seems like a bad name for a superHERO team, but I digress) #4 (Marvel; August, 1993) “…And A Hero Shall DIE!”
The Promoters: Roy Thomas (writer), Dave Ho0ver (penciler), Brian Garvey (inker), Paul Becton (colorist) and Pat Brosseau (letterer)
The Invaders (Captain America, Blazing Skull, Silver Scorpion, The Whizzer (shut up, it was a different time), Miss America, Namor, and the original Human Torch) have been capstured by Doctor Death (not Jack Kevorkian) and his “Battle-Axis” super Nazis. However, Cap has figured something out about Volton (not to be confused with Voltron) and it may get him and his teammates free.
The others join in. Doctor Death was part of the project that created the Human Torch and joined the Nazis to get revenge for not being recognized for his part. So it’s possible that Volton is also an android he mentioned creating.
However, it’s not a Captain America fight unless a mighty shield is thrown and while Cap can kick butt on his own…
…he’s nothing if not a team player. Plus he’s fighting an android with electricity powers.
Individuals lending their individual skills to create something wonderful. (In this case a downed bad guy.) That’s what America is about!
