A boy sees a small creature jump into his mother’s hair and when she doesn’t believe him he decides to catch it. Failing that he asks his teacher who recommends contacting GUTS (which he hopes to join when he grows up). Diago notices a similar monster trying to jump into Rena’s hair, confirming they do exist. They capture it but at the boy’s house the monsters are summoned and merge into a giant monster, which Tiga must stop while protecting a toddler.

What they got right: Hey, we have a kid who idolizes GUTS and ends up involved in one of their cases…and he doesn’t try once to get involved. We also get a nice way out for Daigo to have an alibi during the Tiga/monster attack. Also, the monster feeds on garbage but this isn’t an environmental cautionary story. It’s just a simple plot device.

What they got wrong: One of the little things escapes, teasing a return tale we never get.

Recommendation: The first original tale and it’s a good one. This is still the best series to introduce yourself to the Ultraman franchise.
