Ronnie is losing sleep because of the pressures on him lately. Martin’s ex wants Ronnie to help get her back together with him. He’s also worrying about Doreen (who changes her look after she caught Ronnie checking out some girl last issue) and her sister, Summer, as well as a new Hyena…who seems to have “infected” Firestorm! Summer tells him that it’s not medical in nature but supernatural and that her doctor is in fact the second Hyena whom she accidentally “infected” during a romantic interlude. Separately Summer/Hyena (because she’s not “cured) and Firestorm track down Jivan/Hyena and in the ensuing battle Firestorm accidentally sends Summer/Hyena plummeting from the top of a building!
What they got right: We get a bit more about how the Hyena curse works (or at least how it’s spread, and the werewolf ripoff is obvious but how else would you spread it?) and having Firestorm infected should make for an interesting turn of events. Hopefully they follow up with a logical “cure” since we don’t have Firestorm or Ronnie suffering under the curse anymore. (New 52 aside.)
What they got wrong: Still don’t care about Martin’s ex-wife.
Recommendation: This storyline continues to intrigue me. Hopefully this will remain the case by the conclusion. Keep an eye out for it.
