Godzilla: Rulers Of Earth #14
IDW (July, 2014)
STORY: Chris Mowry & Matt Frank WRITER: Chris Mowry ARTIST: Matt Frank INK ASSIST: Mostafa Moussa COLORIST: Priscilla Tramontano SELECTED COVER COLORIST: Josh Perez LETTERER: Shawn Lee EDITOR: Bobby Curnow
Unaware of the MechaGodzilla attack on Anguirus, the team learns where he is and employs a Mecha G to retrieve him. The mysterious salesman (whose identity is revealed at the end of the issue) continues to not only sell his mass-market MechaGodzillas but when Godzilla arrives on land, right near Woods and Allie) he sends an army after Godzilla.
What they got right: As usual the fights are well done by the art team. We have Allie back (not seen since Kingdom Of Monsters) and it’s nice to see what became of the little girl. Plus it makes me think that the henchwomen might be the Evil Twins from KOM and I hope they are because I still want to know what the deal is with those two. Maybe we’ll finally get their origin story.
What they got wrong: I should be more overjoyed by a MechaGodzilla army than I am. Maybe it’s too much of a good thing, or the fact that you know they’re getting beat down because this is Godzilla’s comic that it cheapens Mecha G in the end.
Recommendation: Surprising nobody who knows who the heck I am, go buy this comic now if you haven’t!
